Very cool.
And we come closer to being brains attached to a mechanical body...

I would so totally go to other people and tell them I am a vampire - check my pulse, check for a heartbeat...

>> No.11573

I heard about these a few years ago (mostly in animal testing). The big advantage of this kind of artificial heart is that the few moving parts means a high degree of reliability (which greatly extends the time it can operate before breaking down). This is huge because the main issue with old-style artificial hearts is that they had operational times in the range of several months, which basically limited them to keeping someone alive until a donor could be found.

A reliable artificial heart would radically change how we treat heart disease, which is by far the biggest killer in the first world. If it had a sufficient range, it could fill the demand for hearts and save around 17 million lives every year. 17 MILLION! That's more people than died in a given year of WWII as a result of WWII.

Sheep Cyclone

http://youtu.be/aSuaDmi7cmU

>> No.11561

oh give me a break, they removed it for fear someone else would repeat it?

it basically showed a ton of sheep running around a vehicle in circles on their own, with a guy very slowly driving it forward - they just kept up with the vehicle and ran around it continuously
